House Moving Day: Click to Save Cash!

House moving day!

So today is the big day, your moving house but are you ready?
If you're using a man with van service like Just Removals, most likely you're paying an hourly rate which means that you could save loads of money compared to other home removals companies who charge day rates which can make your eyes water.
If this is the case then it's up to you to be organised and ready so that when the movers get there everything can be done with no fuss. From our experience in home removals we came up with a small list of things which you can do to make things go quickly and smoothly.
1: BOXES: Make sure all small and loose objects are in strong boxes that are taped shut with strong parcel tape, having objects in boxes enables the removal company to utilise as much space in the vehicle as possible. If there are fragile objects in the boxes such as cutlery, stuff box full of newspaper so things don't move.
2: DISMANTLE: If you have a large objects like wardrobes, beds and cots, be sure to dismantle them, it is so common to have a wardrobe which just doesn't fit through the door or takes three men 15 minutes to carry down the stairs. If you dismantle objects before the mover men arrive you can be sure there will be no long and awkward lifting or 30 minutes wasted dismantling a wardrobe whilst the removal company is charging you by the hour.
3: ORGANISATION: Bring as much as you can down into the room which is closest to the road before the company arrives, put all the objects of similar shapes and sizes together. It may not seem like much, but reducing the all the trips up and down the stairs can save loads of time and generally similar shaped objects are usually positioned with each other in the truck.
4: PARKING: Be sure to secure parking, nothing wastes more time than having to cross the road constantly or walk halfway down the street with each item. To secure parking in busy areas, ask your neighbours to move their cars, then grab a few bins and put them outside of your house when a space is clear and stick a sign onto the side of the bins saying that you're moving house so that they don't get moved. People are usually fairly understanding.

5: THE VAN: Make sure you get a Luton van, if you have any exceptionally heavy objects like log burners, get one with a tail lift and ensure that the company have a wheel board to do all of hard work for you. People always think they have fewer possessions than they really do, you will be shocked at the amount of stuff you have accumulated over your lifetime, having a larger van will reduce the likelihood of expensive additional trips.

How to set the clock on a Ford Transit 2005

For a video showing you how to set the clock on a Ford Transit 2005 scroll down to the bottom of the page or for written instructions just keep reading!

So I bought a Ford transit about seven months ago, and the clock was correct and everything was fine, then came daylight savings time and everything changed.

I then tried to adjust the time as you do, but I found it extremely confusing, it literally took me weeks to figure out how to set the clock. I had such a bad time trying to figure it out that I have decided to steer away from my usual home removals blog to teach you how to adjust the clock so you don't have to go through the same ordeal that I went through. I also created a video as well as these step-by-step instructions.
How to set the clock on a Ford Transit 2005
1. Push and hold the left button

2. When the numbers start to flash, push the right button to change the time, keep pushing until you arrive at the time you want to set it to

3. To change from adjusting minutes to adjust the hours, push the left button (do not hold) whilst the minute digits are flashing
4. Push the right button until the hours have been set to correct time
5. To stop the clock from flashing, start turning the buttons clockwise and anticlockwise until it stops flashing.
6. To switch between 24 hour clock and 12 hour clock simply push the left button quickly

If you are still having problems check out this video for a visual demonstration.

74% of people make it really easy for them! Do you?

In the midst of all the stress, packing and organisation, there's one little task that 74% of homeowners forget, can you guess it? When moving house 74% percent of people forget to change the locks to their new home!
If you forgot to change your locks it means that you are just one of potentially many people who have access to your home. Statistics say that over 55s are the least likely to remember to change their locks, this means that those who are most vulnerable are leaving themselves even more vulnerable to break-ins.
You might trust the former house owners but what about the relatives who have spare keys? If you are the victim of a robbery where the burglar let them self in with a key, there is a good chance that your insurance policy will not cover your loses.
So be safe and be sensible, look after the things and the ones you love by changing the locks.

And if you need help moving home contact Just Removals the reliable man with van home removals service.
